At Otamatea High School, we believe that all students deserve a quality education within a disciplined, safe and supportive environment.
Otamatea High School emphasises the academic curriculum, while also providing a diverse programme of sporting, cultural and social education.
We aim to prepare students for future tertiary study and employment opportunities, to provide them with the qualifications, knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in their chosen career and to contribute fully to our community.

Our contributing primary schools are Paparoa, Mangawhai, Maungaturoto and Kaiwaka, although we do take students from outside this area, including Matakohe, Tinopai and Waipu.
Despite our comparatively small size, a full range of option subjects is offered at all levels. Of note are tourism, photography, media studies, Primary Industries and Aviation Academies we offer in the senior school. The school also offers Workskills and Gateway programmes.

The school welcomes International Students and offers high quality Homestays and, if necessary, ESOL programmes to assist them with their studies. We are a signatory to The Code of Practice for the Care of International Students.
The school has well-established specialist facilities, including a astroturf courts, Media laboratory with photoshop facilities, a technology suite with access to C.A.D. facilities, state of the art computer rooms and a library with access to the Internet, Sky and research facilities.
The Board of Trustees has undertaken to continually upgrade the school's facilities and classrooms so that the school is maintained to a high standard.
The school has excellent outdoor sports' facilities, including an artificial cricket wicket and practice nets, hockey, rugby and soccer fields, tennis courts, a swimming pool and a gymnasium. The school also has a modern fitness centre with excellent weight training and aerobic equipment.
We are fortunate in that we have a close relationship with the Maungaturoto Country Club and the Kaiwaka Sports' Association. This enables our students to have access to squash and tennis facilities, bowling greens and a theatre complex. Our Activities' programme, run on a Wednesday afternoon for senior students, ensures that these facilities are well utilised.
