To avoid overcrowding, or the likelihood of overcrowding at Otamatea High School, the Ministry of Education has developed an enrolment scheme that took/takes effect from ????. Under this scheme, students will be entitled to if they live within the home zone . The enrolment of out-of-zone studnets is governed by the provisions of the Education and Training Act 2020
Students who live in the Otamatea High School zone have an absolute entitlement to enrol at Otamatea High School under Section 74(1) of the Education and Training Act 2020.
The Ministry of Education requires the Otamatea High School Board to ensure that all studnets enrolling at Otamatea High school meet the requirements of the school's enorlment scheme. Applicants who live inside the zone will be required to provide two forms of evidence showing proof of address.

Each year the Board of Trustees will determine the number of places which are likely to be available (if any) in the following year for the enrolment of students who live outside the school zone. The Board will publish this information by notice in a community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school. The notice will indicate how applications are to be made and will specifiy a date by which all applications must be recieved.
If the number of out-of-zone applications exceeds the number of places available out-of-zone applications are prioritised and drawn by ballot according to the priority list.
