Enrolling at Otamatea High School
Otamatea High School has an enrolment scheme that determines who can enrol at the school. Students may apply for entry under two categories.
- In Home Zone
- Out of Home Zone

In Home Zone - Automatic Entry
Students may enrol and attend the school as of right, provided they:
- have entitlement to a state education
- live in the home zone with a parent or guardian
- qualify for the grandparenting provision (have a sibling who was enrolled as at 1 October 2022)
- have not been excluded or expelled from another school
Out of Home Zone - Entry Process
The enrolment of students who live outside of the home zone and do not qualify for the grandparenting provision can apply under the Out-of-Home Zone process.
Siblings of enrolled students as at 1 October 2022 are protected under the grandparenting provision.
2026 Out of Home Zone Enrolments - If you would like your child to be considered for an out of zone enrolment for 2026 please contact the school office, 0800 682 628.
Documentation required for all enrolments:
- Complete online enrolment form
- Proof of address of parent/caregiver (recent power bill or Tenancy Agreement)
- Child's Birth Certificate or Passport
- Residency Permit or Student Visa (if required)
- Latest school report
- Any other important information: (e.g, parenting/protection orders, further medical information, further learning information if relevant)
Once the school is satisfied that the enrolment criteria have been met, the student and parent/caregiver will be invited to attend a pre-enrolment interview.
