Flagships of the school include the Duke of Edinburgh programme where students are supported to work towards and complete their Gold Hillary Award, The William Pike Challenge, the OTA Arts Festival, Smokefree Rockquest competitions, Olla Podriga Talent Quest, Relay for Life and Kapa Haka.  We are also involved in the Reporoa Senior Exchange programme which is the longest running senior exchange programme in New Zealand; this year is the 56th year in the programme which involves students competing in basketball, debating, hockey, football, netball and rugby.
