Otamatea High School

Nau mai, haere mai e te whanau

Welcome to Otamatea Kapa Haka - Nga Uri o Nga Waka.

We believe at Otamatea, kapa haka is a unique medium for learning and developing relationships, between tauira, between kaiako and tauira, between whanau and kaiako, and for authentic interaction and learning on our marae and kura settings.

Ko Māhuhu ki te rangi te waka
Ko Otamatea te awa

Mai Maunganui ki Tāmaki, mai Tāmaki ki Maunganui
Ko Ngāti Whātua te iwi
Ko Te Uri o Hau te hapū

Ko Otamatea te marae

Te Ahurea o Te Tai Tokerau me Tōkihi ki Tua 2023

Ngā Uri o Ngā Waka, Otamatea High School’s kapa haka had the opportunity to perform at the regional kapa haka competition in May 2023.  The group spent countless hours practicing actions, learning words and locking in the choreography so that they could do justice not only to the school but Ngāti Whātua and the Kaipara
