Thursday 3rd March saw the 57th Otamatea High School Swim Sports take place. The day was overcast and quite windy which had students well wrapped up between events but did not deter their enthusiasm racing their peers.

New Records

Alex Ball broke a whopping 5 records for the day

25 m freestyle new time of 16.19 beating B Weston-Arnold’s record of 16.20 set in 1979.

50 m freestyle new time of 36.76 beating A Russell’s record of 37.63 set in 2005.

100 m freestyle new time of 1.20.73 beating M Bruce’s record of 1.20.80 set in 1998.

50 m backstroke new time of 46.21 beating A Exler’s record of 46.77 set in 2000.

50 m breaststroke new time of 50.93 beating B Powdrell/D Thompson’s joint record of 53.75 set in 2006.

 

Noah Martin added to his 2021 tally and broke 2 records 

25m backstroke new time of 15.83 beating J Perrett’s record of 18.13 set in 2015.

25 m breaststroke new time of 17.75 beating J Rose’s record of 18.73 set in 2019.


2022 Swimming Sport Results

A huge thank you to all the parents who helped timekeep on the day. Thank you to Ellen Quirk for being our stroke inspector/turn judge for the day and Martin Kemp for being our head timekeeper for the day.

Thank you to all the staff and students who helped throughout the day in the many jobs to keep the day running smoothly. Lastly thank you to all the swimmers who stepped up and swam their hearts out to make this an enjoyable competition.
