Stand Up Paddle Boarding

By Tina Holst

It was with great relief after the first day was postponed due to horrible weather that on Friday 6 May a team of 16 students finally were able to head to Lake Manawa to participate in paddleboarding. What a fantastic day they all had. The weather was perfect with only a small breeze and barely a cloud in the sky.

All students got to have 3 races each with the option of relay races at the end of the day. In between races students were given lessons on how to improve their skills.

The top results from the day went to Lily Clare and Harry Wood who both placed 3rd in the boys' and girls' year 7 and 8 competition.

Otamatea High School also won the most improved trophy.

It was awesome to see many of our students giving paddle boarding a go for the first time ever
