Inter Iwi

Inter Iwi Competition remains fierce in 2024 with Whatua being victorious in all three events held during term one giving them a healthy 11 point lead over second placed Ngaphui.
The battle for second is place is extremely close with Arawa only one point behind Ngaphui.
The competition resumes next term on May 6th with the Unihoc

Parent Teacher Interviews are coming up

Otamatea High School is planning the parent teacher conferences on Wednesday 15th May.  These conferences are a great way to help promote positive outcomes for all students.
The main focus of these meetings are to discuss factors that can affect learning, such as students' behaviour, motivation, work habits together with students' strength and challenges.

The online booking app opens at 10am Tuesday 30th April and closes at 12pm on Tuesday 14th May.
There will be information on how to do this in next week's Te Panui.

Winter Uniform

We are really proud of how well our students wear our uniform.  With the cooler weather approaching it is important all students have the correct uniform to stay warm. We have a school jacket and school jersey that students can wear.  In addition to these students are allowed to wear a black long sleeved thermal under their school shirt.  Trousers can also be worn but they must be our black school trousers with the school logo on them.  Black opaque tights or black pantihose can also be worn but with shoes only.

Volleyball

With limited practice our girls and boys volleyball teams went up to Whangarei in Week 7 for the Champions Competition. The girls tournament was on Tuesday and the boys followed on Thursday.
Our teams played with great spirit and camaraderie and enjoyed playing some close and competitive matches.

Girls Champions Competition
Otamatea High School had two teams . Both teams played with a lot of enthusiasm and willingness to enjoy each game and the team camaraderie. The Year 11 team had a packed schedule and played 4 games. Their games were close but losses included Whangarei Girls High and Bay of Islands College who both featured in the final. The senior team had a first up loss to KeriKeri High School but it was a close and enjoyable match losing 2-0, 22-25, 23-35. They recovered to beat Huanui College in the next game 2-1, comfortably winning the third set 15-7. This set up a grudge match with the Year 11 team.

Boys Champions Competition
The boys team had three hard fought games in a short period of time when they arrived on Thursday. With only 6 players they found the going tough. The first game was a comprehensive loss to Bay of Islands College losing 2-0. They got into the swing of things in the next game and fought hard to beat Kamo High School 2-1, winning the third set 17-15. Without any subs the boys looked a bit tired going straight into another game and losing to Huanui College 2-1.
