Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award Ceremony

On Saturday, June 15th at the 2pm Gold ceremony hosted by the Rt Hon. Dame Patsy Reddy ,GNZM, QSO Governor-General of New Zealand, Quintin Brown, was presented his Duke Of Edinburgh's Hillary Gold Award.

His parents, Sean and Teresa, OHS Award Leader, Robyn Bruce and DOE National Chair, Ken Hames, were extremely proud and honoured to be able to attend this ceremony to see Quintin receive his award from Peter Hillary.

The gold award is the culmination of hours of dedicated service ,skill and recreational activities spread over four years. 

Quintin's citation in the official programme reads :

"Commitment and team bonding are the two main attributes that the Award has taught me. Without understanding these aspects, it would have been impossible to complete the Award"

Quintin now joins eighty-four Otamatea High School students who have gained their gold award since 2005. Quintin is now in his second year at Victoria University in Wellington studying Law and Finance.

Congratulations, Quintin. We are all very proud of your achievement.
