Year 8 Camp 2021 - what an adventure!

To celebrate the end of their Intermediate years, the Year 8 students camped at Ruakaka Beach Holiday Park for three days from Monday 13th to Wednesday 15th December. For the group of very excited students, the camp proved to be an adventure. The guests of honour, the wild winds and penetrating rain, made their presence felt with most Year 8 students ending up sleeping in the camp ground hall, marae style enjoying a massive slumber party. Throughout the days, students participated in activities that included kayaking with Police Blue Light, raft building, SUP boarding, Escape Room, a scavenger hunt, and Talent Show preparations.

Due to the weather, on the first night we held a karaoke and movie night followed by the talent show on the last night, and what talent there was to show! All groups got involved, displayed resilience and gave it a good go. On the final day of camp, the weather improved and we were able to visit Ruakaka Beach, enjoy the sea and sand and have a picnic under the mighty Pohutukawa before heading back to school in the afternoon.

Huge thanks to Mrs Coll for keeping everyone well fed, to all the teachers for their planning and execution of activities and to the parents who came along and helped out.
